Certification

The National Certification for Educational Interpreters of Spoken Languages (NCEISL) will be offered during two testing windows in 2026

Timeframe for Testing Window 1

• The application is available starting on March 1, 2026
• Deadline to submit all documents: March 20, 2026
• Once their application is approved, candidates will receive a confirmation email with their Candidate ID Number and information to download the exam platform (ExamSoft).
• When the candidate receives this confirmation email, and they are ready to take the written test, they can do so between April 30, 2026, and May 15, 2026. This is the timeframe for the written test during Window 1.
• When a candidate passes the written test, they can take the oral exam between May 15, 2026, and June 15, 2026. This is the timeframe for the oral test during Window 1.
• Candidates will receive oral exam scores by July 31, 2026. Written exam scores are provided automatically.

Timeframe for Testing Window 2

• The application is available starting on July 1, 2026
• Deadline to submit all documents: August 1, 2026
• Once their application is approved, candidates will receive a confirmation email with their Candidate ID Number and information to download the exam platform (ExamSoft).
• When the candidate receives this confirmation email, and they are ready to take the written test, they can do so between September 1, 2026, and September 15, 2026. This is the timeframe for the written test during Window 2.
• When a candidate passes the written test, they can take the oral exam between October 1, 2026, and October 15, 2026. This is the timeframe for the oral test during Window 2.
• Candidates will receive oral exam scores by December 15, 2026. Written exam scores are provided automatically.
